Alexander S. Burgess
Milford - Alexander “Alex” S. Burgess. Beloved son of Ted Burgess and Anita Guy. Cherished grandson of Louise Matson Guy & the late Samuel D. Guy and the late Marilyn Burgess & the late David A. Burgess. Loving nephew of Richard A. Burgess, John Matson Guy, and Sarah Dellinger & Jeff Appleton. Dear cousin of James (Kate) Dellinger IV, Jordan Guy, and Taylor Guy. Alexander passed away on January 6, 2021 at the age of 26 years. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Alex attended Wyoming City Schools through 8th grade and was a graduate of St. Xavier High School (2013). He earned a BS Cum Laude in Kinesiology & Health from Miami University (Oxford) in 2017. He graduated from Ohio University in May of 2020 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He was employed by Mountain River Physical Therapy as a staff physical therapist serving patients in their Bridgeport and Jane Lew, WV clinics.
Alex enjoyed team sports, musical performance, travel, his dogs, and spending time with his extended family. He began summer swimming with the Swordfish swim team at the Wyoming Swim Club at the age of 6. He spent summers working there as a swim coach, lifeguard and assistant manager. He began competitive swimming with the Powel Crosley, Jr. Tigershark Team at the age of 8 and continued throughout his high school years. He was a team player always putting up his best times as part of relay teams. At St. Xavier he competed as a varsity swimmer on the Aquabomber state champion swim team all four years. At Miami University, he changed his focus to competitive weightlifting and organized the first-ever MU team to compete in the 2017 Collegiate Nationals in San Antonio, TX.
He began playing piano at a young age and later used his ability to keep a musical beat to become a talented drummer. He played drums weekly as part of the praise band at Faith Lutheran Church for many years, performed as part of special musical programs at the York Street Baptist Church and recently filled in with the praise band at Northern Hills Christian Church.
