Doris Elaine Franks ~ Elaine was born in Minneapolis Minnesota to Edwin and Thyra Hansen. Elaine went to Grandview Collage in Des Moines Iowa. There she met and later married Gene Franks. They both graduated from Western Michigan University.
She taught 4&5th grades in Muskegon and Grand Rapids Michigan. After moving to Oxford, Ohio she taught kindergarten at Kramer Elementary for 25 years. For a few years after retiring she spent a couple years supervising student teachers for Miami University in Europe and in the Oxford area.
Elaine was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and also P.E.O. She loved spending family vacations at the ocean and camping across the country. She looked forward to picking blueberries in Michigan and made the world’s best pie. Decades of family gatherings were the highlight of her life.
She is survived by her two children. Jim Franks of Prior Lake Minnesota (Joan) and Laurel Mahaffey Cincinnati Ohio(Jeff) and her sister Ardythe Bulthouse. She had 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband Gene Franks and her son Craig Franks.
A memorial service honoring Doris will be held on Friday July 29 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church 420 S. Campus Avenue Oxford.
