Martha "Marty" Payne Meyer

Martha (Marty) P. Meyer, 68, of Oxford, OH passed away on Saturday, November 05, 2022 at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. 

Marty, as she was affectionately known by everyone who knew her, was the only child of the late William (Bang) and Mary Meyer. She was born July 05, 1954, at Mercy hospital in Hamilton, OH. Marty grew up in Oxford, graduating from Talawanda High School in 1972. She furthered her education at the University of Cincinnati, graduating with a BS degree in Economics in 1976, followed by a law degree from Chase Law School in 1979.

She began her professional career with the Ohio State Auditor’s Office in Columbus, Ohio, working there for 15 years. She then returned to Oxford following the deaths of her parents and began working for the Law practice of Wayne Staton for 10 years.

Marty enjoyed volunteer work and giving her time and talents to the community. She began to volunteer at the Lane Library, Oxford Senior Center, and the Oxford/Talawanda Food Pantry, now renamed TOPPS. Her most enjoyable passion was her flower garden. She spent countless hours working on her flower arrangements in her yard. Her other passion was caring for her beloved cats, Bibb and Tipp. They were her children.

Marty leaves to cherish her memory, a cousin, Elaine Grushas Donaldson of Northern Kentucky, Nancy Cantwell of Brookville, Indiana, Linda Scholten of Oxford, Ohio, and life long friend Brenda Allen of Oxford, Ohio.

Arrangements are being finalized for a memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marty’s name to the animal shelter in Ross, Ohio or to Animal Friends in Hamilton, Ohio.
