Richard Monk Obituary

Richard James Monk, 82 went home to be with his beloved parents, siblings and friends on Wednesday 11/23/2022 with family by his side. Rich was born June 19, 1940 to Lillian and Charles Monk in Cincinnati Ohio. Rich had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He was a very selfless and kind hearted man who adored his family and friends. He loved the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Bengals and Clemson football and Xavier basketball. When he wasn’t working, you could always find him sitting in front of the TV watching a game or horse racing with a newspaper in his hand. He loved to shop for antiques and adored his dogs. He loved to travel and live back and forth from Cincinnati to Florida after retiring in 1990. He worked many years for Associated Freight before eventually retiring from Keebler in Cincinnati. He was a member of Local Teamsters.

Rich had six sons who he absolutely adored. They all meant the world to him and he would have done anything for them up until his last breath.

Before Rich’s health started to decline in 2020, he spoke often of wanting to go to heaven and be with his parents. His faith in God was strong and he would often read the Bible. He knew where his final destination was going to be and he couldn’t wait to get there. His parents were surely waiting for him with open arms and he is now happy and pain free. There is no doubt at this very moment all his fur babies are piled up in his lap and he is smiling from ear to ear.

Rich was such a kind spirit and loved to joke around with everyone and make people laugh.  He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lilly Kessinger Monk and four of his 5 brothers, Bobby, Elmer, Raymond and Charles Monk, his sister Janie Browning. and his grandson Bradley Monk.

Rich is survived by his sons Greg (Terry) Monk of Zephyrhills Florida, Scott (Diane) Monk of Hamilton Ohio, Tony Monk of Covington Kentucky, Barry (Michelle) Monk of Plant City Florida, Rusty, Rodney Monk from Fairfield, Ohio, and step daughter Gloria Ryle of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, and brother Johnny Monk of Indiana. He leaves behind 12 grand children and 5 great grand children.

Viewing will be Thursday Dec 1, 2022 from noon until 2 pm at Paul Young Funeral home in Mt. Healthy with a service immediately following. He will he buried at Spring Grove Cemetery.
